UnitedHealthcare blue was featured prominently during the 24th annual Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Winter Games in Austin Feb. 2-5. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas (UHC) volunteers flooded event venues to help with competition as the health plan began its second year as a statewide sponsor of SOTX.
SOTX shares a similar mission of helping Texans live healthier lives and serving its communities.
UHC volunteers handed out towels to nearly 2,700 children and adult athletes during the volleyball, bowling and powerlifting events, and ensured every competitor went home with a handmade scarf knitted by volunteers from across the U.S.
Athletes were provided voluntary, free healthcare screenings through Healthy Athletes®, the world’s largest provider of medical services to people with intellectual disabilities. The 779 health screenings recorded eclipsed the largest amount of screenings ever provided at a SOTX Winter Games by nearly three times.
UnitedHealthcare will provide volunteer support at more than 500 SOTX area competitions in 2017.
