The Frisco-based, NBA Developmental League Texas Legends recently honored UnitedHealthcare of North Texas for its commitment to slow the growing childhood obesity trend.

For seven years, UnitedHealthcare has partnered with the team through a “Get Fit” initiative. The season-long wellness program challenges North Texas children to log weekly activities and adopt healthy eating habits.

The popular program has grown to include more than 10,000 kids and has seen children and their families turn healthy diet and exercise teachings into daily habits.

According to the 2016 America’s Health Rankings® report, 19 percent of Texas children are obese, and the state ranks 40th in the nation for obesity.
