United Health Foundation and Boys & Girls Club of America’s (BGCA) San Antonio chapter hosted a forum on Sept. 21 to discuss unique issues facing military families and tools to help military youth build resiliency.

Retired Army Maj. Gen. Jimmie Keenan, SVP of Enterprise Clinic Operations, WellMed, highlighted the importance of the family unit and support necessary during deployment and when returning home.

During the last year, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio has participated in a pilot program developed by BGCA and United Health Foundation. Through a $1.75 million grant from United Health Foundation as part of its “Helping Build Healthier Communities” program, the organizations created Operation: Reach, an interactive online platform and mobile application focused on family wellness and resiliency for military-connected youth and teens.

Since the launch of Operation: Reach, nearly 3,000 youth across the nation have logged on and spent 4,215 hours on the app.
