UnitedHealthcare of Texas and United Health Foundation Philanthropic Partners Help Rebuild Houston

On Nov. 14, UnitedHealthcare of Texas employee volunteers helped rebuild Hope Farms, an urban farm in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood. UHC was joined by volunteers from United Health Foundation grant recipients the University of Houston, Houston Food Bank, Recipe for Success and Give an Hour to plant citrus trees and build storm-resilient planters.

During a short ceremony following the service project, each philanthropic partner talked about the importance of partnering to help rebuild Houston after Hurricane Harvey.

In 2016 through RFP grants, United Health Foundation awarded $675,000 to the Recipe for Success Foundation to build Hope Farms which trains veteran entrepreneurs to raise fresh and healthy food for low-income residents and $2 million to the University of Houston to combat diabetes in Houston’s Third Ward.
