UnitedHealthcare Sponsors 2019 Special Olympics Texas Winter Games

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas was again a proud sponsor of the Special Olympics Texas (SOTX) Winter Games. 2019 marks UnitedHealthcare’s fourth year as a Year-Round Co-Sponsor, demonstrating support for SOTX and its shared mission of helping Texans live healthier lives.

Participation in 26th annual winter games was at an all-time high for SOTX. More than 2,600 children and adult athletes competed in the weekend’s bowling, volleyball and powerlifting events.

UnitedHealthcare Helps Host an Unforgettable Night for People with Special Needs in McAllen

Night to Shine Tim TebowUnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas—in partnership with Capable Kids Foundation Inc., RGV Down Syndrome Association, Appletree Therapy, and AWARE-RGV—hosted a Night to Shine Prom at Calvary Baptist Church in McAllen on Feb. 10.

Night to Shine, also supported nationwide by the Tim Tebow Foundation, provides people with special needs an unforgettable prom experience. More than 350 churches around the world hosted the events, including 16 churches in Texas.

Prior to the event, UnitedHealthcare provided complimentary final alterations to ball gowns and tuxedos. Every guest entered the event on a red carpet complete with a warm welcome from a friendly crowd and paparazzi. Once inside, guests were treated to hair and makeup stations, shoe shines, limousine rides, corsages and boutonnieres, a catered dinner, karaoke and a dance floor. At the end of the evening every guest was crowned prom king or queen.

The 2017 Night to Shine was the largest to date, with 75,000 honored guests and 150,000 volunteers nationwide.

UnitedHealthcare Community Plan Backs Texas Women

Recently, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Texas proudly sponsored the Texas Conference for Women, one of the year’s biggest events celebrating women. The inspiring one-day event in Austin, now in its 17th year, provided more than 7,000 women an opportunity to network, learn and grow, both personally and professionally.

Volunteers made scarves for Special Olympics Texas athletes at the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan exhibition booth. Each athlete will receive a scarf during the Special Olympics Winter Games in 2017, continuing a nearly 10-year tradition.

The booth also encouraged attendees to participate in or donate to campaigns that help Austin families in need.
